The Challenge is Ours...Commitment From Everyone, Excellence For Everyone
A MESSAGE FROM SUPERINTENDENT PUCKETT
Welcome back to all our returning students and to those who are new to the GCSC family. We have had an exciting first two weeks of school with many updates and changes in facilities as well as providing the newest technology for our secondary students. The distribution of more than one thousand iPads to students in grades sixth through twelve follows months of strengthening of our technology infrastructure, developing curriculum and instructional strategies, and providing technological support for students and teachers. We continue to work diligently to improve accessibility and resources for our staff and students and know that in the coming weeks our one-to-one technology approach to learning will grow and flourish. Our technology staff and resources are available online under the 1:1 Technology tab on the GCSC webpage. Parents and students will find helpful information on the set up of Apple IDS, parent information meetings, locations for public wifi access and more.
As school began this year, GCSC provided Bullying Prevention training to all classified staff in the district. Students in grades three through eight have participated in OLWEUS Bullying Prevention programming for the past several years at GCSC. Now all of our staff members have an understanding of the definition of bullying, of our expectations for behavior, and of methods for addressing bullying situations. Remember that GCSC has Bullying Hotline reporting options on the webpage for each building. Look for posters in your places of employment and around the community with information on identifying, addressing, and reporting bullying.
Make sure you are an active participant in all aspects of your child’s education this year. Our partnership will be successful in educating your child if we all work together. All teachers in all buildings will be hosting parent/teacher conferences in October so look for that information from your teachers and administrators.
